This is one of the best specimens of Manganpyrosmalite (Pyrosmalite-(Mn)) from Australia I have seen for sale due to color and richness; and it has great provenance residing in both the Wouter Van Tichelen and Robert Selecki collections. It is a very attractive, sparkling, dark red specimen with large, fat, translucent Manganpyrosmalite crystals measuring to 6 x 6 x 6 mm concentrated at one end. I have seen bigger crystals, but not often on such a rich specimen, or in such quantity and beauty together. In fact, this entire piece, its display front, back and "matrix" is composed entirely of Manganpyrosmalite! Its translucence is obvious holding it in hand and is accentuated with just a little backlighting. I consider this piece to be one of the most significant examples of the species and these were found in the 1920s- or before, a true Aussie classic ! Ex. Wouter Van Tichelen and Robert Selecki collections (and Sielecki had one of the best collections ever assembled in modern times, of Australian minerals).
