Here we have a classic French blue Fluorite plate from THE most famous find, featuring dozens of rich, blue crystals covering the display face. The interconnected, blue, transparent to translucent cubes range in size from 1 to 2.5 cm across and they all display sharp edges and corners with only minor contacting at the periphery. Viewing the piece from the side, multicolored banding is evident and it starts with a thin matrix layer of white Quartz followed by a 1 to 2 cm thick band of dark purple Fluorite that serves as a base for the gorgeous blue Fluorite cubes that top the piece. There is a thin, discontinuous layer of pink Dolomite between the purple and blue Fluorite. This light colored Dolomite provides a the perfect substrate to show off the beautiful blue Fluorites, especially since they are translucent to transparent which helps impart an internal glow to them! The crystals have a good luster that has just a hint of satin to it. This lovely plate comes with a custom engraved acrylic base. This is from the collection of Paul Zerfass of France, which I bought circa 2015, and we obtained this mine-run, as it was when he collected it. This piece was from the famous "table plate" of 300 pounds, that he extracted from this pocket of the best and saturated blues in the 1980s. It is a legendary find, now, and specimens are seldom available because the color is simply shocking and people who own them simply do not sell them. This specimen has some corner restorations (invisibly, only seen under UV light for detection), although no repairs.
