This is significant example of the special twin habit of spinel, macle-twinning. A gorgeous, rich red-pink, twinned, sharply formed, boxbuster thumbnail Spinel crystal has a sharp form and a mass of 16.7 grams. It displays a nice pink-maroon saturated color with gemmy areas and has a strange hole at one end, probably from where a mineral inclusion was dissolved out at some point in its history. Geometric and captivating. In your hands, it is very robust, and it is really a small miniature in size class when stood vertically although technically it could squeeze into a thumbnail size box.
