Though well known now, carrollite used to be quite uncommon until the finds in the DRC in the 1990s. Carrollite is a rare copper, cobalt, nickel sulfide, with the very finest of the species coming from the DRC. This excellent intergrown thumbnail is sharp, well-defined, and has a bright metallic luster. From the collection of Paul Otto.
