Rhodochrosite (partially polished)
Morro da Mina Mine, Conselheiro Lafaiete, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Small Cabinet, 6.0 x 3.9 x 1.4 cm
SOLD
Gorgeous, intense pink, botryoidal Rhodochrosite from an old manganese mine in Brazil. This Rhodo originates from the Morro da Mina Mine, the same locality as the beautiful, and much more common, Rhodonite crystals we see from Minas Gerais, Brazil. Tight groups of rich pink rounded Rhodochrosite embellish a thin piece of matrix composed of a translucent, gray-lavender Chalcedony. The Rhodochrosite hemispheres display a satin luster and a portion of the piece at the very top has been polished to reveal the concentric banding at the interior of these. We rarely see Rhodochrosite from this mine available and this small cabinet piece displays pleasing color and texture. Crystal Cellar label. Like the Argentina material, sometimes a polished rhodochrosite can indeed be a specimen. For the size, beauty, and color, we regard this as such, even though it is (partially) polished.
