Fluorite on Quartz with Muscovite
Yaogangxian Mine, Yizhang Co., Chenzhou, Hunan, China
Small Cabinet, 7.0 x 5.1 x 3.5 cm
SOLD
Lustrous, razor-sharp edges and lustrous crystal faces characterize this fine Fluorite cluster from Yaogangxian. This small cabinet piece has several large, interpenetrating Fluorite crystals that are turbid in the central portion and transparent for the outer portion. The outer rims are so transparent that an understated cuboctahedral Fluorite phantom can be seen in the interior of the large crystal. The large composite crystal is 4cm across and composed of several other crystals in parallel, stepwise growth. There is a similar smaller cluster intergrown on one side and another on the other side that is askance to the main crystal. All of the Fluorites are pale green in the center with a discontinuous purple zones and the remainder of the crystals are a clear, very pale blue-green with a very thin, blue-purple rim. The Fluorites sit on a milky Quartz matrix with minor Muscovite. There are several 4 to 8mm rosettes of silver-gray Muscovite on one side and Muscovite clusters can be seen through the Fluorite in the front of the piece. Corners of all of the Fluorite crystals are intact with the exception of a few on the back at the periphery. Comes with a custom engraved acrylic base. 2019 finds.
