This red-tinted cluster of English Calcite owes its pleasing coloring to a dusting of Hematite. Calcites from Egremont, England, are very popular among Calcite collectors and those of worldwide species alike. Well over two dozen, sharp, scalenohedral Calcite crystals averaging 2cm produce this attractive grouping; one crystal is 3cm in length! The Hematite dusting was deposited very late in the history of this piece as it is included into the final stage of Calcite formation. The Calcites have good luster and are in excellent condition with some contacting around the periphery of the base. Ex. W. Leithauser collection with label.
