Miniature, 3.6 x 2.5 x 3.1 cm

A gorgeous, two-sided "pinwheel" Rhodochrosite miniature from Hotazel in the Kalahari Manganese Field of South Africa. Lavish, intergrown radial spheres of cherry-red Rhodochrosite to 2cm cover both sides of a thin sliver of Chalcedony resulting in a super attractive miniature from this classic locality. Spheres of radial divergent Rhodochrosite is one of the characteristic habits for Hotazel, and the one sphere that is opened reveals the radial texture perfectly. This piece is just dazzling from all of the Rhodochrosite crystal faces that sparkle as you rotate the piece in your hand not to mention the fabulous and saturated cherry-red color! A fantastic miniature from one of the best Rhodochrosite localities in the world! Also, it is a unique and rare style compared to the usual. (found circa 1980)
