Diamond (macle twinned)
Argyle mine, Wyndham-East Kimberley Shire, Western Australia, Australia
Thumbnail, 1.3 x 1.2 x 0.3 cm
SOLD

Fine, 6.90 ct Diamond macle from the Argyle Mine in Western Australia. This champagne-colored stone is gemmy, has excellent adamantine luster, and classic growth patterns on the faces. Availability of specimen diamonds from Argyle was expected to drop off after 2006, as new owners were predicted to change mining procedures. Anything over 4 carats should be considered a large-specimen diamond and this piece, at nearly 7 carats, is a significant example of a modern Argyle Mine diamond. The piece is large and gemmy, and shows well in a thumbnail gem crystal display. From the stock of an older diamond dealer, now very hard to replace in such a size!
