Concepcion del Oro produced fantastic bronze, blocky Chalcopyrite crystals sometimes with an engaging “rainbow” effect. This group of Chalcopyrites, crested by a 2.5 cm crystal, is accented by a spray of sharp Quartz crystals. The geometry of the piece is dynamic, and the Quartz provides excellent visual contrast. Striations along the crystal faces produce interesting texture in combination with the lovely oxidation effects on the surface of this sulfide mineral. Minor wear on the edges of the specimen , typical of this material, hardly distracts from this small cabinet specimen’s dramatic appearance. It is gorgeous in person!
