An excellent and showy, old-time Chessy specimen consisting of numerous azurite crystals locally replaced by patches of malachite. Most Chessy azurites are the classic rosettes or balls, so this is a very uncommon varietal from this historic locality. The ancient Chessy mines were closed by the end of the 19th century, and this is a fine example of classic form and species. This is a large, showy specimen loaded with blocky azurites to 1.3 cm displaying a satiny luster and many are partially pseudomorphed by bright green, variably chatoyant malachite. The ancient Chessy mines were closed by the end of the 19th century and this is a fine example from this classic mine. A custom engraved acrylic base is included. Formerly $3500, obtained from an old European collection many years ago.
