This is a rare color-variety of vesuvianite, known only in good quality from several pockets in this old asbestos mine. Fine, sparkling thumbnail of raspberry-colored Vesuvianites from the world-famous Jeffrey Mine in Canada. These prismatic crystals have excellent luster and very good, gemmy terminations. This tight cluster is quite aesthetic, and better in person, where you can really appreciate both the glassiness and gemminess of the terminations. The cluster actually views well from the back, as well. An attractive thumbnail for this species, it was acquired by Kay in 1989, and was #11,869 in her collection.
