Cuprian green Smithsonite is rare from anywhere, and was only found a few times at this mine in the USA over many decades. This is a large and attractive small-cabinet-sized plate of smithsonite from the 79 mine. The face of the plate is completely covered in translucent, bright green, low-profile botryoids of smithsonite that display a captivating resinous luster. The matrix consists of alternating bands of white and gray smithsonite that adds to the depth of the green color on the top smithsonite layer. Very difficult to obtain this quality of smithsonite from the 79 mine, and as far as I am aware it has been nearly 20 years since any of quality came out.
