KRD-10
Goethite ps. after Pyrite
Pelican Point Quarry, Utah Lake, Utah Co., Utah, USA
Miniature, 4.0 x 3.8 x 3.2 cm
Ex. Kay Robertson
SOLD

This is a superb, nicely-sized example of one of the beautiful and well-known Utah pseudomorphs in which Goethite replaces Pyrite. The patina is a gorgeous antique bronze with a hint of chocolate brown color. The interpenetrating crystals have preserved their sharp edges and the fine striations on their faces. This complete-all-around near-floater from the classic Pelican Point locality has only one tiny contact in a lower corner. Older material, purchased in 1975, this miniature has excellent aesthetics due to form, color, luster, and overall balance. Sharp, sharp, sharp!
