Anglesite (fluorescent)
Phoenixville Mining District, Schuylkill Township, Chester Co., Pennsylvania, USA
Miniature, 4.8 x 2.2 x 1.8 cm
Ex. Kay Robertson

For the well-known Phoenixville district worked heavily in the Civil War era as a Lead-Silver series of mines, this is truly an exceptional Anglesite. This miniature is basically a book of three tabular Anglesite crystals emanating up from a small amount of matrix. The front presentation crystal, a significant 3.4 cm tall, is lustrous, partially gemmy, and nearly pristine save for one very small ding (and the massive anglesite it grows out of, is like a pedestal for the display). Ex Burton Jurgl collection (a notorious California dealer and hustler). This is a MAJOR anglesite crystal for the USA! I cannot think of any other locality which has yielded this species in such display quality form here. The main crystal is dramatic and perfectly displayed, with hints of matrix underneath. It is historic, AND aesthetic.
