Smithsonites from the Kelly Mine are among the most highly-prized Smithsonites in the world, in no small part due to their color, luster, and forms. This choice miniature is composed of the rare, and highly coveted, 4-5 mm oval-shaped crystals affectionately referred to as 'rice grains'. The luster on the baby blue Smithsonites is excellent, and they all rest on a crust of turquoise-blue Aurichalcite. The delicate color contrast is both understated and striking at the same time, giving this piece a wonderful aesthetic. Rarely seen on the market compared to the more common botryoidal Kelly Smithsonites, and surely an old specimen, this is a superb miniature example of the habit.
