This is a select Colorado Aquamarine, originally labeled as Teller County but almost certainly Mt. Antero. The color, gemminess, and luster on this 34 g crystal are all outstanding, and the termination is almost split in half by a secondary Aqua crystal hanging atop the termination. The aesthetics are excellent, with Colorado Aquas of this quality being quite rare and in high demand. This is large, gemmy, intensely colored much more than they usually are, and complete. It would clean up dramatically in the lab, removing some brown stain and increasing the luster by removing some surface coating, but I liked the old, antique look of this piece. Also, the old mine-run coatings help show that it is not Pakistani or some other location. This is actually a quite important USA specimen! ex George Holloway collection, and dated to the her 1960s acquisitions.
