In perspective, this is a rarity! We have a clean, choice Augelite crystal from the well-known rutile locality of the Champion Mine in California. Loose crystals of Augelite were often cut for collector gems from this locality, but this quality, translucent to gemmy crystal has fortunately managed to survive. The actual crystal faces on this Augelite are quite smooth and lustrous, with contacting on the back. The Mineralogical Record's article (Vol. 8, No. 6, 478-486) is a good source for more info on the locality and its rare phosphates.
