Paprok, Nuristan, Afghanistan
Small Cabinet, 8.9 x 6.6 x 6.1 cm
Ex. George Elling
SOLD

This is an oldtimer from the 1990s vintage, from a few small pockets that produced unusual lavender to purple zones on the terminations of the tourmaline crystals (technically we should call it the multicolored variety, Elbaite). The piece is thick and symmetrical, with excellent luster and a lavender-pink termination 7mm thick, sitting atop a fatter blue zone, all with a moderate amount of translucency when backlit. The stronger the backlighting, the better the color (to shw the color without suspicion of photoshopping, the "glow shots" here were taken with a simple iPhone and one halogen desk lamp above and behind the crystal, and no editing for color). 590 grams. ex George Elling gem crystal collection.
