A "jewel of a tourmaline," this is a rare old habit from the 1960s! Glassy and gemmy, this tricolored elbaite crystal exhibits a shockingly intense and colorful 2 mm thick dark maroon band at the termination. Very minor chipping at the termination edges do not diminish the beauty of the crystal and are acceptable given the age of this specimen, and the rarity of the style. The mass is 50 grams.
