Baryte
Frizington, Cumbria, England
Small Cabinet, 5.8 x 2.6 x 2.5 cm
SOLD

A uniquely beautiful Baryte that is almost certainly over 100 years old, and yet survived all this time in excellent condition despite its exposure and fragility! Perched aesthetically on a small pedestal of matrix and smaller Baryte crystals is a lustrous and translucent, doubly terminated, rich amber colored Baryte crystal measuring 5.8 cm across. Just striking! One of the most aesthetic in this size I have seen. This would certainly date from the mid to late 1800's heyday for collecting specimens of such style in this region (see our book on the Greenbank Collection). Better in person!
