- Edingtonite (huge gem xl)
- Thumbnail, 2.3 x 0.9 x 0.8 cm
- Bolet Manganese Mines, Undenas, Karlsborg, Sweden
- Ex. Marilyn Dodge
Another world-class level rare species in an exceptional, almost unheard of crystal size and quality, that "happens" to also be a thumbnail - those are the kind of thumbnail specimens I personally find most significant! This superb, gem-quality Edingtonite is off the charts for what it is, and actually is probably worth a good bit simply as faceting rough! An old classic, crystals like this are rarely seen for the locality. In fact, the Edingtonites that you normally see for sale are the small opaque crystals from Canada or Scotland. This crystal has great clarity and impressive size and form for the species. Important as rarities, classics, or thumbnails of impressive esoteric quality. Much better in person, as almost any illumination just lights up the crystal, causing havoc for the camera.
