Classy and attractive, this doubly-terminated Calcite from the Denton Mine, probably twinned, sits on a tad of purple Fluorite matrix. Seldom do you see any gemmy Calcites from Illinois with this doubly-terminated habit. The Calcite crystal is an impressive 9 cm long, with excellent luster, color, and gemminess. Though there is some wear on the edges and terminations, there are also some absolutely remarkable features to this piece. Most notable are the glassy bevels on each face that expand at the terminations. But that's not all - these bevels are reversed and flipped on the opposite faces! Despite the (tiny) bit of wear, this Calcite is in overall good condition, and the striking bevels, gemminess, luster, and color go a long way to enhance the aesthetic value. Mined in 1982. RCL1764
