Galena with Fluorite
Cabinet, 10.7 x 9.7 x 8.0 cm
Sub-Rosiclare Level, Denton Mine, Harris Creek District, Illinois, USA
Ex. Ross Lillie
Imposing and massive, this Galena with Fluorite from the Denton Mine is really quite significant for the locality. It is impressive and display-worthy. The modified cubic form, along with the wonderfully textured faces, creates an excellent aesthetic. The luster even has some iridescent coloration. There are several interpenetrating Galenas emerging from the main crystal, as well as purple Fluorites emerging from one face. These Fluorites are lavender and purple, and are 1.8 cm and 2.8 cm, respectively. This is highly representative of the top-notch specimens that came out of the Bahama ore body, and it is considerably better in person, even. Mined in 1992. RCL1544
