Rather remarkable for the style in this size, this cabinet specimen is comprised of hundreds, if not thousands, of gemmy Calcites completely coating a cluster of very large Fluorites. The bladed Calcites, which average 7-8 mm, are essentially flattened rhombs with very good luster and an attractive, buff yellow color. The gigantic yellow Fluorites below reach 9.7 on edge. I have rarely seen anything from here quite like this. It reminds me of a Calcite 'reef' composed of all those gems growing on the Fluorite substrate, with the piece having great character and unusual aesthetics. Mined in 1989. RCL 1773. VERY dramatic and sparkling on a shelf!
