This is an attractive, gemmy, floater crystal of Spodumene from a well-known pegmatite in the mountains of Afghanistan. The color is yellow with a slight tint of green, and Spodumenes with similar coloration are often given the varietal name of Triphane. This is a good example, with a mass of 61 grams and well-developed faces that are both flat and scalloped. The crystal is nearly doubly-terminated and complete all around, with only very minor edge wear (not surprising considering the mining involved with a granite pegmatite). A very unique little spodumene for a collector of miniatures and gem crystals, who is not excited by the usual large, clunky green spods from this location - this is something different!
