Tourmaline With Clevelandite
Little Joe Pocket, Stewart Mine, Pala, California, USA
Miniature, 4.8 x 4.2 x 3.8 cm
SOLD
This is a good example of a multi-hued elbaite from Southern California but of a rare style...and quite distinct to one pocket found around 1984. Originating from a matrix of bladed white clevelandite, the lustrous tourmaline has a dark, opaque, green body: capped by a .5 cm translucent zone apple green, section; and then a further layering of translucent, purple and clear zones at the termination.
