Staurolite (rough and cut set)
Keivy, Keivy Mountains, Kola Peninsula, Russia
Miniature, 4.3 x 3.1 x 2.3 cm (Crystal), 1.08 ct (Gem)
SOLD

4.3 x 3.1 x 2.3 cm (Specimen); 1.08 carats; 8.95 mm x 5.10 mm (Gem) - Most people don't think of Staurolite when they consider rough and cut sets. The specimen is a classic example of the famous "cross" twins from the Kola Peninsula in Russia, and the stone is a deep brownish-red "Brilliant Pear" cut (we do not know the locale), but the most important part of the set is the fact that the stone is GEMMY and shows color when backlit is a big deal. This is a rare opportunity for somebody to pick up a very nice Staurolite set with a notably attractive gemstone.
