Marienfluss Spessartines used to set the standard with brilliant orange Garnets from the famous find in the early 1980s. At that time, they were considered the world's best for sharpness, color, and gemminess. Looking at this specimen, you can see why. Today they are still desirable, only so rare most people have never seen one. This well-formed crystal is 1.2 cm and is a classic mandarin-orange hue but with "fire" to it. Finding them on matrix is an uncommon bonus, and this Spessartine is nestled within a coarse schist. Outstanding quality and aesthetics. I have had under half a dozen of these in 25 years.
