Tetrahedrite
Sweet Home Mine, Alma, Park County, Colorado, USA
Small Cabinet, 6.8 x 4.7 x 3.8 cm
SOLD
While not rare from the Sweet Home mine in small crystals, I had never seen such a nice cluster of large crystals for sale as this one. Tetrahedrite is only thought of as a minor accessory mineral to rhodochrosite here, but this mass of tetrahedrite is capped by an equant, lustrous, dark gray crystal measuring 2.2 cm in length, and is a worthy specimen entirely on its own merits. Rare, old piece from the early-1990s era of mining here, as confirmed by the SH#596 on the bottom. This is actually a fairly significant USA specimen, even if from a mine where we expect to see other things!
