Clinoatacamite on Quartz
Lily Mine, Pisco Umay, Ica Department, Peru
Small Cabinet, 9.2 x 5.6 x 3.7 cm

Isolated clusters of lustrous, blackish green clinoatacamite crystals, to 1 cm in length, are nicely perched on chrysocolla infused quartz. There are even a couple of lustrous malachite botryoids at the top of the specimen. This is one of the few larger examples from the find that I found to be aesthetic and without too much damage. It has unusual isolation to the sharp clusters of the rare species, clinoatacamite.
