Piteiras mine, Nova Era, Minas Gerais, Brazil

Excellent, tabular portion of a GEMMY Emerald crystal from Brazil, with a good single termination. This mint green Emerald is almost completely gemmy, with numerous, very fine inclusions. As gemminess goes, this is far above normal Brazilian quality we see from Carnaiba and quite different from the opaque but more intense material we see from Brumado. At 24.6 carats, it is really a significant "gem" stone in any case, and could be cut to a cabochon. Much better in person.
