Baryte
Sidi Lahcen mine, Nador, Nador Province, Oriental Region, Morocco
Small Cabinet, 8.5 x 7.2 x 4.0 cm
SOLD
Most of these recent Moroccan Barytes have either too much damage, not so much aesthetics or are simply in too massive of matrix pieces for the majority of my customers' tastes. Smaller pieces, in this size range, were few and far between. Truly fine pieces in the small cab size? Only just a handful. This is one of our favorites: A dramatic specimen with translucent, lustrous Baryte crystals to 5 cm forming a windswept spray upon a small pedestal of matrix. It is complete 360 degrees around, and very 3-dimensional. One of the finer examples of this material that we have seen trickle out in the last 2 years, this is from a small lot of holdbacks released by one of the miners at Tucson 2014. Already mounted on a custom lucite base for safe and optimal display. Joe Budd photos.
