I have only seen a handful of these strange specimens over the years, reportedly mined in the 1970s at Black Rock. This is a very aesthetic spray of upright crystals shooting out of matrix of pastel-pink kutnahorite, where it seems that a later generation of elongated kutnahorite crystals has been altered (pseudomorphed) into goethite. The contrasting shapes and colors, and the 3-dimensionality, make this a really interesting piece, visually. Ex Marshall Sussman Namibian collection. Joe Budd photos.
