Connected by a sliver of matrix are two, glassy and gemmy, bright green crystals of demantoid garnet, to 1.2 cm across. This specimen has a unique habit, as is illustrated in the May 2010 issue of Mineralogical Record, devoted to this locality. It came from the famous demantoid specimen mined operated there by Dr. Federico Pezzotta that has produced what most of us believe are really the world's finest of species. This is a unique piece with aesthetics and form that set it apart and make it a higher level of thumbnail specimen for this locality, and for the species.
