Superb, compound scalenohedron of Calcite from the well-known Denton Mine in mid-1994. This has a more intense color when backlit a bit, but our shots are under simple, normal lighting. This large, single crystal was removed from matrix, so is cleaved on the bottom, but the overall condition of the crystal is excellent and it is complete and terminated all around. It is highly lustrous and partially gemmy, particularly at the main termination. There are small, excellent Calcite crystals on the back, and within the large Calcite crystal is embedded deep purple Fluorite. Very impactful aesthetics - quality, large Illinois Calcites like this are far and few between, as Ross Lillie noted on his own label, "The last batch of specimens I bought from the mine, closed to production in 8-25-94. Fine luster and color. Extremely rare to acquire." RCL0161
