Deo Darrah, Khash & Kuran Wa Munjan Districts, Badakhshan Province, Afghanistan
Two fat, tabular, parallel growth alkali-rich beryl crystals, to 1.5 cm across, are nicely perched on matrix. The crystals are lustrous and translucent along with exhibiting a lovely rich sky blue color. These were originally thought to be Rosterite or Vorobyevite, but further analysis by Dr. Federico Pezzotta confirmed they are alkali-rich beryls.
