Beryl Var. Emerald
Rist Mine, Hiddenite, Alexander Co., North Carolina, USA
Miniature, 3.5 x 1.7 x 1.4 cm
SOLD
A gemmy, lustrous, hard to find Emerald crystal from the Rist Mine of North Carolina. The upper portion of the crystal is quite gemmy, with the lower portion being translucent to gemmy. The termination is mirror-like and glassy. The crystal contains embedded blades of Muscovite under one face and not far from the termination, which is not unusual for this locality and helps to prove it is from here, as well. A classic and excellent older North Carolina emerald! Weighs 19 grams (95 carats)
