While the Himalaya Mine is most noted for tourmalines, on occasion the mine has given up rarities like this incredibly sharp and textbook-crystallized, tabular columbite. The crystal is doubly terminated, has good luster and exhibits a dark battleship gray color. From the private collection of Herb Obodda, this is an important San Diego County specimen for the mine.
