Adamite Var. Cuprian
Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Namibia
Miniature, 3.5 x 2.3 x 2.2 cm
SOLD
Cuprian adamite of this deeply saturated color and style only came out once from Tsumeb, probably in the early 1980s. Specimens are very seldom seen for sale. This is choice miniature with the classic, intense green color and almost metallic luster characteristic of the find. Crystals spray out dramatically, to 1.5 cm in size. The yellow matrix is beaverite or mimetite. While this certainly is a choice miniature/toenail for the discerning collector of really rare Tsumeb things, but more than that this is just a damned good adamite and a colorful specimen, worth a lot on the simple merits of its aesthetics. As a side note, with some minor trimming, this would make a hellacious thumbnail specimen of competitive quality. Joe Budd photos.
