This classic locality produced calcite stalactites like this long ago, but I had not seen a new batch in years! The specimens are actually much more sparkly in person, and are composed of small 1-3 mm sharp calcite rhombohedra coating goassan stalactite matrix. Each of the four pieces I bought was cherry-picked for condition and lack of damage - they are complete all around. A later generation of large, complex modified rhombohedral calcites then formed atop the stalactite. So many of these had damage, or were just not fully covered with the calcite layer (in both the old and the new finds). Joe Budd photos.
