This quartz matrix hosts, like a pedestal for display of the Olympic torch, a very colorful 7 x 3 x 2.2 cm tourmaline crystal. The tourmaline has a superb, glassy termination and displays wonderfully. It is very difficult to get large robust tourmalines on matrix, in this size range. Joe Budd photos.
