Zinnwald is a great, historical locality in the lore of mineralogy, and Fluorites from there are rare. The matrix is composed of many books of lustrous, pseudo-hexagonal books of Zinnwaldite (a form of mica/muscovite once considered its own species, and this the type locale). On the matrix rest a sharp, white 1.2 cm Quartz crystal and an exemplary, deep purple Fluorite cuboctohedron. The Fluorite is about 1.3 cm across, as are the Zinnwaldites. This is an outstanding, very uncommon combination. Rare old classic.
