Bastnaesite
Zagi Mountain, Northwest Frontier Province, Pakistan
Miniature, 4.4 x 1.9 x 1.7 cm
SOLD
This area of Pakistan is well noted for its worlds-best bastnaesite specimens. This piece is no exception. It is a large, well formed, lustrous, translucent, honey-brown, crystal, exhibiting parallel growth. While not transparent, like many smaller crystals, this is a huge, important specimen. Given the size, it has good color as most larger ones tend to be opaque and quite dull. The form, and the size, together make this really stand out. I should add that, for the time being, these are the cheapest examples of large bastnaesite crystals I have ever seen on the market!
