Rutiles from this classic locale are among the best in the world, by any standard. Their sharp form and intense metallic luster sets them apart for rutiles in this size range from those of other locales. Matrix specimens, with isolated crystals that are undamaged on the natural host rock, are exceedingly uncommon in good quality. This beautiful plate is shiny and aesthetic, and it features dominant crystals to 4 cm in size showing unusual spacing on matrix. Most are jumbled or broken in parts of the plate, but this one is one of the most pristine and balanced specimens in its size range we have seen. It comes from an old Atlanta-area collection.
