Dolomite (Cobaltoan)
Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
Small Cabinet, 6.6 x 3.9 x 2.9 cm
Ex. Marshall Sussman

Cobaltoan dolomite from Tsumeb is impressive and not terribly rare in mediocre form. However, the color, intensity and form of this small cabinet specimen puts it into an incredible, one-of-a-kind category. The thin crust is highlighted by a hollow, botryoidal knob, measuring 2 cm in length. It has unusually good luster and the most intense magenta color I have seen in a cobaltoan dolomite from this deposit. It is simply gorgeous on a shelf...it honestly looks like it was dyed with pink food coloring. From the Tsumeb collection of Marshall Sussman, a few years ago.
