Cahnite

Thumbnail, 1.9 x 1.6 x 1.3 cm
Ex. Richard Kosnar
SOLD
An incredible, large thumbnail specimen of this incredibly rare species. This material is from one pocket found in the early 1900s, and named in 1908 after famous dealer Lazard Cahn. Cahnite today is one of those ultimate East Coast rarities sought by USA and Franklin collectors, but few ever turn up to market. This large crystal is from the personal collection of Richard Kosnar, who for over 60 years was a New Jersey specialist collector.I have never seen such a large example of this species for sale. It was found only once at Franklin in large crystals, over 100 years ago, and recently found in crystals to 2.5 mm from China. Joe Budd Photos.
