U.S. Potash mine, Carlsbad, New Mexico
Small Cabinet, 7.0 x 3.6 x 3.0 cm
Unusually thick at 3cm, this is another truly superb tabular example of the uncommon species aphthitalite the crystal form is wonderful along with a glassy and gemmy appearance. A few very faint phantoms parallel the growth of this colorless crystal. Insignificant contact does occur at the base of the crystal but this is far offset by its beauty, clarity and form.
