Cerussite on Calcite
Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia
Small Cabinet, 8.0 x 7.0 x 4.0 cm
SOLD
Excellent combination piece from the famous Tsumeb Mine. The large (3 cm) Cerussite has a complex habit that may have basic, but not yet well-developed, twinning. The luster is very good, and the cream-colored crystal is gemmy to translucent. It sits perfectly on a large plate cover completely covered by lustrous white Calcite rhombs that range up to 4 mm. These fluoresce a very good orange, and the black flecks of what may be Chalcocite stand out nicely against the contrasting Calcite. A fine, aesthetic specimen with two important Tsumeb species.
