UNIVAZ-X-08
Gold
Eagle's Nest Mine, Placer County, California, USA
Miniature, 4.6 x 3.3 x 1.2 cm
SOLD
This is a typical gold in overall form for the Eagle's Nest at first glance. However, it has a FANTASTIC, mesmerizing luster (like golden aluminum foil); and a sharpness to the crystals that is very uncommon. The combination of the supre high luster and the pattern-stamped sharpness to the crystals places this piece above most superficially similar-looking miniatures and takes it to the next level. The photos are good, but it is even better in person. Golds of this caliber are few and far between relative to the norm, and when you hold it in a group with other "normal quality" pieces - still very good things, mind you - this just leaps out to the eye. It is COMPLETE ON BOTH SIDES and looks good from front or back. (NOTE: Not a Univ. of Arizona piece, though it was included in that update with other golds). This specimen is from the private collection of an Australian gold dealer, who kept it for its brilliant, metallic, reflective luster.
